The Inspiration
Where did the inspiration come from to start a blog? Well, I simply love to travel! I enjoy writing about and sharing my experiences. If those experiences can help inspire someone else and make navigating their way through life a little bit easier, then I think it’s a win-win situation!
When I first started blogging in early 2020, I knew I wanted to start a travel blog from the beginning. 2020 was going to be my year. I had just graduated from college and decided to move back home to save money so I could go travel most of the time.
Well, we all know what ended up happening in 2020. I did get to travel to Vietnam and Cambodia with my partner in February. I had a second trip booked to Peru in June. I even wrote in my planner that my goal for 2020 was to be out of the country for most of it. Then, March rolled around, and everyone’s plans changed.
As many of you can probably relate, I felt sad and frustrated. I was so angry that those early 20s experiences of finally doing what I wanted to do were being put on hold. The only thing I wanted at that time was to travel the world, which I had been saying I wanted to do on my own since middle school.
Instead, I took a full-time job in the pharmaceutical industry, which, thanks to the pandemic, was booming, and put my good ‘ole college degree to use. My blog idea then went from travel to a general lifestyle blog. I like writing about those things, but I couldn’t wait to get back out there and start the project I was most passionate about.
Finally, in May of 2022, I took my first international trip in over two years to the UK, and I went SOLO! After waiting out this crazy roller coaster of the past two years, I decided last minute that I was going to take off. I was in a spot where I was about to change jobs, and I wanted to take some time off in between.
I booked my flights 6 days from the departure date, which I’ve never done! And that is the reason for this trip being solo. I asked my partner to come, but on such short notice with his work, he wasn’t able to swing it.

Now that countries are back open and travel is becoming accessible again, I have many trips planned for the future. I am happy you’re here to follow along!
I know many people who think traveling is out of their reach. Either it’s too expensive, or they have other priorities that they feel can’t be put on hold, such as work. Well, to that, I say those are excuses. The first time I left the country for 6 months, I only had a few thousand to take with me. I worked my butt off over the summer to save up for my travels. You would really be surprised to know how much traveling you can do for cheap.
About Me

Hi! I’m Maci, founder at Maci On The Move. I decided to start this blog as a creative outlet.
I graduated from Chico State in 2019, and since then spent almost a year working at my high school job trying to decide what I wanted to do. In reality, I wasn’t trying to “decide” anything. I was just buying myself time before I had to work full-time!
As I try to navigate through my wishy-washy, messy life, I plan to update my readers every step of the way! If even one person can find helpful advice from dealing with the same issues, then mission accomplished!
Let’s work together to build ourselves up in a successful career, learn how to manage our finances, find side hustles, and affordably style our lives and invest in things that are important to us!
Please reach out to me through the Contact page for any questions, comments, or concerns. I am always open to taking advice or critique. This blog is also open to guest blogging opportunities.
